Technologies and products involved

  • The provider's toolkit

Results

The creation of a standard catalog of contractors

Methods

The following tasks were accomplished in order to create the Standard Catalog of Contractors:

  • the sorting out of incorrect entries (e.g., empty fields, other checks);
  • a search for duplicated records, with specialists checking the data extracted from the original catalogs (disaggregation of data by segment, their conversion to a uniform description format);
  • a processing of bank details;
  • a processing of addresses (a transformation of text fields so that they match the records of Russian contractors in the Classifier of Addresses of the Russian Federation)

We successfully designed and set up a standard catalog culled from original sources, which was to be the foundation of a company-wide ERP system

Normalization of a Unified Catalog of Contractors (UCC) for Rostelecom, JSC

About the customer

Currently Russia's largest telecommunications company, Rostelecom, JCS, was created in 2011 through the merger of the telecommunications operator Rostelecom with the regional telecommunications companies CenterTelecom, North-West Telecom, Southern Telecom, Volga Telecom, Uralsvyazinform, Siberia Telecom, Dalsvyaz Telecom, and Dagsvyazinform. The company operates the largest telecommunications network, whose combined length adds up to around 500,000 km, and a unique infrastructure affording access to 35 million Russian households. Over 100 million Russians use the various services the company provides.

About the project

The project's main objective was to create and normalize a united catalog of contractors by consolidating the disparate catalogs then in use at Rostelecom's major regional subsidiaries. Subsequently, during the merger of the major regional subsidiaries, the catalog became the foundation of the company-wide ERP system R13.

The results achieved

The project allowed the client to channel all its interactions with contractors through a single ERP system when it adopted Oracle R13.

The initial number of entries was 80,000. The United (Standard) Catalog contained 25,000 entries. The project took four months.
